synopsis of our thriller 'the inner-sense'

Opening
Our thriller opening sequence will be based around a physco killer who will be lying in bed whilst dreaming about a killing at a school. It will start off with the car pulling up and there will be a shot from the back seat of the car wear you can see the psychos eyes in the mirror of the car as well as a crucifix hanging from the mirror before we pull the focus on the school in the background and that now becomes the main subject of the frame. The killer steps out the car preparing to enter the school, as he strolls into reception, he shares dialogue with the receptionist allowing him to enter further into the school to pursue his targets and the killings begin. This dialogue will be a shot reverse shot sequence but the killers face shall not be revealed and when he is talking there will be shots of his hands and torso. As he is walking through the corridors the psychos face still will not be revealed and he will be seen walking into a toilet with emphasis on the door shutting. Once the door has shut there is a fade to black before we then hear gun shots and screaming over a completely black screen. The next shot shows him waking up in bed with an extreme close up shot of his eye/eye opening, and also a bird’s eye view of him rolling over in bed combined with the sound bridge of the sirens wailing in the distance and a news report of the killings.

Rest of the film
Having finally realised that his dream was a reality and that he was the one that killed all those children the psycho then decides to go on the run, causing his psychotic behaviour to worsen and other lives are lost. The police continuously step up their search for him and it turns out that the main chief investigator has a personal vendetta against him as he killed their daughter in the shootings. Eventually after weeks of searching for the killer there is a final stand-off between the pair after the police officer goes rogue and takes matters into their own hands. The stand-off takes place on a rooftop with the psycho threatening to jump. Before he gets the chance to jump there is a hand on hand combat fight before a final gunshot is heard and we see the killer bleeding from the stomach. After passing away the police officer rolls him off the edge of the building with his foot and he lands in a skip full of rusty scrap metal. The final shot is the chief investigator walks back across the rooftop and it fades to black.

  1. OK - dont understand the necessity for the initial shot from the back of the car. Don't think that you need that.

Its a good opening and synopsis and should be successful - it all depends on you gaining access to the school.
