Zodiac

The first part of the opening we see, there is no confusion or mysteriousness about it, simply two teenagers are in a car and the female driving insists she is hungry and so they drive off to get food.

When they arrive at a restaurant, it is too crowded and so the female now says they should just go somewhere quite which then is rather confusing because if she was starving they would try another restaurant and not go somewhere out of the way at night. However, the male is feeling suspicious about the female and asks if she is okay due to how the female is acting but she re-insures him she is fine. Just as this happens, two cars behind them set off a few fireworks right behind their car scaring the two teenagers, however after this the drive off and this gives us an indication that their location is not a safe one and they might want to move somewhere else.

Moving on, it now starts to get worse for them or more mysterious as another car just randomly pulls up behind them and after a few seconds and drives off, once again creating enigma. When the car pulls away, the male asks the female whether that was her husband, and this is rather strange because she looks very young to have a husband and this confuses the audience.

Near the ending of the opening, the same car pulls up and someone gets out, the male insists a lot that they should drive away and leave but the female does nothing apart from whisper too herself a word that shows she is in trouble. After this the figure walks around the car and just kills the two teenagers, shooting a fair few bullets between the two, killing them both. As the shoots them, the music on the radio picks up and becomes louder which could simply just be used to show that all the build-up beforehand has now ended. In the opening overall we are very confused as to what is happening and why they have been killed, but does set it up well for the rest of the film.
